Indonesia and Austria Forge Pact on Skilled Workers Recruitment

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia and Austria have solidified their commitment to fostering bilateral cooperation in the recruitment of professional and skilled workers through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The MoU, which underscores a collaborative effort aimed at facilitating the employment of skilled labor, was formally signed by Secretary-General of the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower, Anwar Sanusi, and State Secretary of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labor and Economy, Susanne Kraus-Winkler. The signing ceremony took place in Jakarta on Monday, May 13.
In a statement issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower on Tuesday, Minister Ida Fauziyah expressed her satisfaction with the signing of the cooperation document, emphasizing its alignment with the Indonesian government’s strategic objectives, particularly in harnessing the upcoming demographic dividend.
“We can leverage the demographic bonus by ensuring a harmonious balance between the skillsets of our workforce and the demands of the job market, thereby expanding opportunities for our workers to seek employment abroad,” remarked Minister Fauziyah.
To operationalize the MoU pertaining to the recruitment of skilled workers, the Indonesian government will collaborate closely with various Austrian institutions, including the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and the Austrian Business Agency.
“The stipulations outlined in the Indonesia-Austria MoU underscore our shared commitment to streamlining the legal framework governing access to the Austrian labor market, while also prioritizing the protection of the rights and welfare of Indonesian talents employed in Austria,” elaborated Minister Fauziyah.
Furthermore, Minister Fauziyah highlighted provisions within the MoU that advocate for the establishment of a joint committee tasked with overseeing its implementation, the development of guidance documents, and the convening of annual meetings aimed at fostering sustainable dialogue and cooperation.
“This MoU also underscores the imperative of bilateral knowledge exchange in policy formulation, initiatives aimed at bolstering technical competencies, and the promotion of cultural collaboration to attract Indonesian professionals and skilled workers to pursue career opportunities in Austria,” concluded Minister Fauziyah.
