Vietnamese Party Chief Engages in Phone Talks with Vladimir Putin

Hà Nội, The Gulf Observer: During high-level phone talks at the Party headquarters in Hà Nội, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyễn Phú Trọng underscored Vietnam’s steadfast commitment to the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, labeling it a top priority in the nation’s foreign policy.

In the dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, General Secretary Trọng extended warm congratulations to President Putin on his re-election as President of Russia for the 2024-2030 term, achieving a record-high number of votes. This victory, he emphasized, is a testament to the Russian people’s trust and support for President Putin’s leadership in steering the country’s development in the new era.

Additionally, General Secretary Trọng conveyed heartfelt condolences to President Putin, the Russian people, and the families of the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Moscow on March 22, 2024.

Highlighting the historical and contemporary significance of Russia’s assistance to Vietnam, General Secretary Trọng reiterated Vietnam’s unwavering commitment to its comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, considering it a cornerstone of its foreign policy.

In response, President Putin expressed gratitude for General Secretary Trọng’s congratulatory message and Vietnam’s prompt condolences following the tragic incident in Moscow. He acknowledged Vietnam as a steadfast friend and partner of Russia and expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations across various domains.

Both leaders concurred on several key directions and measures to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as security-defense, economy-trade, culture, and tourism.

General Secretary Trọng took the opportunity to extend an invitation to President Putin to visit Vietnam in the near future, an invitation that President Putin graciously accepted.
