OIKN to Showcase Green Vehicles During 79th Independence Day Celebration

Nusantara, The Gulf Observer: The Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) has announced its plans to introduce environmentally-friendly vehicles during the commemoration of the 79th Independence Day in Nusantara, East Kalimantan, on August 17, 2024.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Head of OIKN, Bambang Susantono, emphasized the authority’s commitment to showcasing green transportation options during the significant national celebration. “Only environmentally-friendly vehicles, such as electric buses, will be in operation during Indonesia’s 79th Anniversary in Nusantara,” affirmed Susantono.

The decision to present green vehicles aligns with the net zero emissions target, demonstrating a dedication to creating an environment with sustainable mobility. The OIKN aims to set an example of how transportation transformation can play a pivotal role in building an integrated, inclusive, and sustainable city, fostering positive change for a better future.

The Independence Day celebration on August 17, 2024, in Nusantara, East Kalimantan, marks the commencement of the gradual transfer of the national capital from Jakarta, as previously announced by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

In preparation for this historic event, the OIKN, in collaboration with the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), the Presidential Security Force, and the Permanent Garrison I/Jakarta, has conducted a comprehensive review of Nusantara’s Central Government Core Area (KIPP).

The Independence Day ceremony will take place at the Presidential Palace, strategically positioned facing the National Axis, providing a panoramic view of the city’s landscape.

Various agencies, including the District Military Command and the State Secretariat Ministry, have undertaken thorough reviews of key areas such as the Presidential Palace, Memorial Park, and Construction Workers Barrack, ensuring meticulous preparations for the 79th Anniversary of the Indonesian Independence.

The OIKN invites the public to join in the celebration of this momentous occasion, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter in the development and sustainability of Nusantara as the nation’s capital.
