Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi has revealed that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is slated to hold a meeting with Elon Musk during the upcoming 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali.
Minister Setiadi disclosed this information during the opening of the 11th National Conference of the Indonesian Telematics Society (MASTEL) on Wednesday. He confirmed Musk’s interest in meeting President Jokowi during the event.
While the minister refrained from divulging specific details regarding the agenda of the meeting, he expressed anticipation for the discussions between President Jokowi and the founder of the Starlink satellite network.
“We will await the outcome of the president’s conversation with Elon Musk, should it materialize,” Minister Setiadi stated.
Furthermore, the Communication and Informatics Ministry intends to explore potential areas of collaboration between the Indonesian government and Starlink services during an upcoming working meeting.
“We will convene a working meeting in Bogor, West Java, to delve into various aspects related to Starlink, including its impact on our sovereignty and environment,” Minister Setiadi elaborated.
In a previous announcement, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan confirmed that President Jokowi and Elon Musk will inaugurate the Starlink service in Indonesia during the 10th WWF in Nusa Dua, Bali.
“Musk will be present in Bali as a distinguished speaker at the 10th World Water Forum,” Pandjaitan affirmed.
The licensing status of Starlink in Indonesia has reportedly met the operational feasibility requirements, indicating that the company holds a telecommunications operator license in the country, thus paving the way for enhanced connectivity and communication services, particularly in remote areas.
