DUBAI, TGO: The Consul-General of China in Dubai, Li Xuhang, said the UAE has succeeded in consolidating the meanings of diversity, inclusiveness and a culture of openness through hosting people of more than 200 nationalities.
In an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Xuhang said the UAE has created a community with a shared future for mankind. “I can deeply feel the atmosphere of peace, love, unity, assistance, and self-discipline, which are the common values of all mankind.”
He praised the UAE’s humanitarian initiatives to support the underprivileged worldwide throughout the year, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, including the “1 Billion Meals” campaign.
He added that the Chinese Consulate in Dubai will organize on Friday a donation ceremony for Iftar meals worth over AED100,000 in the presence of officials.
Xuhang said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to Muslim tradition during Ramadan as government officials visit Muslim families or hold meetings to exchange greetings and opinions.
“Speaking of the Arab community in China, I used to work in Yiwu, a city in Zhejiang Province of China. Many Arab Muslim friends from the Middle East are working and living there. During Ramadan, they also do fasting, praying, and charity to promote the Ramadan tradition of solidarity, cooperation, friendship and mutual assistance. In China, there are nearly 30 million Chinese Muslims. They live in various provinces and come from over ten ethnic groups. The Chinese Muslims are observing Ramadan just like other Muslims around the world.
“Muslims in China also enjoy the Eid al-Fitr holidays. During the Eid, some tourist attractions are open to Muslims for free. People of all ethnic groups would send their greetings to Muslims, demonstrating harmony between all ethnic and religious groups in China,” the Chinese Consul-General said.
On the relations between the UAE and China, he stressed that they are a model to be followed in strategic cooperation between countries.
