UN Secretary-General Hails Oman as “Voice of Wisdom” and “Peace Builder”
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres extended profound gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for the remarkable partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the UN, highlighting Oman’s pivotal role in regional diplomacy and peacebuilding efforts.
In an interview with the Oman News Agency (ONA), Secretary-General Guterres lauded Oman’s proactive endeavors in resolving numerous regional issues, portraying the nation as a beacon of peace and stability in the Middle East. He characterized Oman as a “peace builder” and a “voice of wisdom” in the region, emphasizing its respected status as an indispensable partner for global peace and security.

Turning his attention to the dire situation in the Gaza Strip, Secretary-General Guterres reiterated the UN’s unwavering commitment to mobilizing resources to aid the population amidst tragic conditions. Expressing sorrow for the unprecedented civilian casualties, he urged countries with influence on Israel to facilitate the flow of humanitarian aid by opening all crossing points into Gaza. Guterres stressed the urgent need for a humanitarian cessation of all military operations in Gaza to alleviate the suffering of civilians.
In advocating for a resolution to the conflict in the Gaza Strip, Secretary-General Guterres emphasized the imperative of achieving a two-state solution and granting Palestine full sovereignty over its lands.
