Uzbekistan, China enhance collaboration in archeology

Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: The delegation led by Party Secretary of China’s Shaanxi province Zhao Yide visited the Samarkand Institute of Archeology and got acquainted with the work carried out by the joint Uzbekistan – China expedition.

Since 2012, the Samarkand Institute of Archeology has established scientific ties with Northwest University of China. By the agreement concluded in 2023, excavations are being carried out at the archaeological sites of Rabat, Baysun district, and Chinor-tepa in Uzun district of Surkhandarya region.

According to the Cultural Heritage Agency, research is also underway in the upper reaches of Surkhandarya River: Uzun, Sariasiya, Denau, and Shurchi districts and at archaeological sites in Fergana district of Fergana region.
