President Tokayev Meets with Dutch PM to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, who arrived in Astana for a working visit, according to the Akorda press service.

The discussions between the two leaders focused on expanding cooperation in political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. President Tokayev expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Rutte’s significant contributions to the development of mutually beneficial relations between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands.

“With warmth, I remember our meeting in 2015. We appreciate your personal contribution to the promotion and development of our mutually beneficial cooperation. We know that you are currently the longest-serving Prime Minister of your country and you have rich international experience. I would like to point out the dynamic development of our bilateral cooperation. The Netherlands is the largest investor in our economy, with the volume of direct investments exceeding $120 billion. Our countries are implementing large-scale joint projects,” President Tokayev remarked.

Emphasizing the significance of Rutte’s visit, Tokayev highlighted its potential to further boost trade and economic relations between Astana and Amsterdam. In turn, Prime Minister Rutte praised the high level of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands and expressed his desire to enhance practical interaction.

Recalling his initial visit to Astana in 2010, Rutte noted that it was his first trip outside the EU following his appointment as Prime Minister, with a subsequent visit in 2015. He commended the rapid development of bilateral relations and Kazakhstan’s balanced stance on regional and international issues.

The Dutch Prime Minister also indicated a willingness to share expertise and innovations in areas such as agriculture, green energy, and water resources management.

The meeting included discussions on strengthening trade-economic, energy, and investment cooperation, as well as collaboration in transport, innovations, nuclear energy, agriculture, healthcare, climate, and water resources management. Both leaders exchanged views on key regional and international issues and stressed the importance of continuing dialogue as part of interactions with the European Union.

This visit marks a continued commitment to deepening the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands, fostering growth and development in multiple sectors.
