President Shavkat Mirziyoyev Visits Samarkand, Inspects Imam Bukhari Complex

Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand on August 26, marking his visit with a customary stop at the Imam Bukhari Mausoleum. In keeping with tradition, Surahs from the Quran were recited, and prayers were offered in the revered site.

On the eve of Uzbekistan’s 33rd anniversary of independence, President Mirziyoyev reflected on the significance of this milestone. “May our independence be eternal, and may nothing darken the future of our country. May the Almighty help us in our work for the benefit of the people,” he said. The President emphasized the purpose of building the new Imam Bukhari complex, stating, “The purpose of building this complex is to further elevate the honor of our ancestor, Imam Bukhari, and create a basis for glorifying his name throughout the world. May there be more such good deeds.”

The new Imam Bukhari complex, a significant project initiated by President Mirziyoyev, is nearing completion. The complex has been expanded, with the mausoleum’s area increased to 600 square meters and its height raised to 28 meters. A new mosque with a capacity of 10,000 people has also been constructed, featuring four 75-meter minarets that add to the grandeur of the site. With construction and engineering work completed, the finishing touches are now underway, with a focus on incorporating national traditions and warm, welcoming colors.

During his visit, President Mirziyoyev inspected the ongoing construction and finishing work, stressing the importance of implementing modern, safe management practices within the complex. This visit underscores the President’s commitment to honoring Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage and ensuring that the legacy of Imam Bukhari continues to inspire future generations.
