Presidential Election Voting Commences in Azerbaijan

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Today marks a significant day for Azerbaijan as voting for the presidential election has officially commenced. Polling stations across the country opened their doors to voters at 8:00 (GMT+4), according to Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC).

Chairman Panahov highlighted the democratic process underway, ensuring that citizens have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote and participate in shaping the future of the nation. The election will see seven contenders vying for the presidential seat, following the crucial cutoff for candidate registration on January 9.

With a comprehensive voter list comprising 6,478,623 people, the electoral process is set to unfold at 6,537 polling sites throughout Azerbaijan. To ensure transparency and fairness, over 90,000 observers have enrolled to oversee the election proceedings.

The CEC Secretariat’s Information Center is committed to providing preliminary updates on the voting progress and results at key intervals throughout the day. Updates are scheduled for 10:00, 12:00, 15:00, 17:00, and 19:00 (GMT+4).

A noteworthy aspect of this election is its extensive coverage, encompassing the entirety of Azerbaijan, including recently liberated territories. In these liberated areas, 26 polling stations have been strategically constructed to facilitate the voting process for residents.

The electoral event reflects Azerbaijan’s dedication to upholding democratic values and engaging citizens in the democratic process. The election will play a crucial role in determining the leadership of the nation and setting the course for its future.
