10th Round of China-ROK High-Level Strategic Dialogue Held in Seoul
Seoul, The Gulf Observer: The 10th round of high-level strategic dialogue between the foreign ministries of China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) took place in Seoul on Wednesday. The meeting was conducted by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu and ROK Vice Foreign Minister Kim Hong-kyun.
During the dialogue, both sides commended the progress in bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties, emphasizing that the continued healthy and stable development of China-ROK relations is beneficial for both nations and contributes to regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
The discussions focused on implementing the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. The parties agreed to enhance exchanges and communication, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, address differences constructively, strengthen the bond between their peoples, and advance the strategic cooperative partnership between China and the ROK.
The Chinese delegation expressed firm positions on issues such as Taiwan and the South China Sea, urging the ROK to adhere to the one-China principle, maintain the political foundation of bilateral relations, and adopt an objective stance on the South China Sea dispute.
The ROK reiterated its commitment to the one-China principle and expressed hope for peace and stability in the South China Sea.
Both sides acknowledged their mutual benefits from economic globalization and pledged to oppose trade protectionism and the decoupling of industrial and supply chains. They agreed to work together to counter the politicization and securitization of economic issues, ensuring the stability and smooth operation of their industrial and supply chains and safeguarding the international free trade system.
The ROK underscored the importance of cooperation in industrial and supply chains and expressed readiness to strengthen dialogue and coordination with China.
The dialogue also covered the situation on the Korean Peninsula and other international and regional issues of common interest. The Chinese side highlighted the complexity and severity of the current situation on the peninsula and stressed the need for a de-escalation. China urged all parties, including the ROK, to play a constructive role in advancing the political settlement process for the Korean Peninsula issue.
Additionally, Vice Foreign Minister Ma met with ROK Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul on the same day.
