140th Anniversary of Poet Barpy Alykulov Celebrated in Jalal-Abad

Jalal-Abad, The Gulf Observer: On September 21, the central square of Jalal-Abad hosted grand celebrations marking the 140th anniversary of the renowned poet, akyn, and improviser Barpy Alykulov. The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov, Governor of Jalal-Abad region Tilek Tekebayev, Mayor of Jalal-Abad Ernisbek Ormokov, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Rayev, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy Altynbek Maksutov, as well as members of Parliament, government officials, public figures, and local leaders.

As part of the festivities, 19 traditional yurts were installed in the central square, symbolizing the cultural heritage of the region. Guests were treated to a theatrical performance depicting the life and literary contributions of Barpy Alykulov, and an exhibition showcasing locally-produced food items by regional farmers and enterprises was also organized.

The event honored the lasting legacy of Barpy Alykulov, celebrating his influence on Kyrgyz culture and literature.
