2024 Pearl Bay International Climate Investment and Financing Conference Opens in Guangzhou
Guangzhou, The Gulf Observer: The 2024 Pearl Bay International Climate Investment and Financing Conference, centered on the theme “Global Cooperation for a Green Future,” officially opened on Sunday in Guangzhou, the capital of south China’s Guangdong Province.
In his opening remarks, Guangzhou Mayor Sun Zhiyang emphasized the event’s pivotal role in advancing the implementation of China’s dual carbon goals, fostering the creation of a “Beautiful China,” and addressing global climate challenges. Mayor Sun highlighted Guangzhou’s commitment to collaborating with countries worldwide and all sectors of society to drive significant advancements in climate investment and financing.
Zhao Yingmin, Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment, underscored the importance of climate investment and financing as a critical pillar of green finance. He stressed the necessity of guiding and incentivizing social capital to support green and low-carbon technological innovations and industrial transformations. This approach, Zhao noted, can yield comprehensive climate, social, and economic benefits while injecting fresh momentum into high-quality development.
