Zayed University Hosts Global Summit on Inclusion for Tomorrow

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: Zayed University will host the Special Olympics Global Centre for Inclusion in Education Summit starting tomorrow at its Abu Dhabi campus. The two-day event, themed “Inclusion for Tomorrow,” aims to promote the worldwide inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities through impactful discussions and initiatives.

The summit will bring together over 300 leading advocates and experts to exchange insights and share best practices in fostering social inclusion through sports, youth leadership, and school engagement. The event will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive workshops to deepen understanding and highlight the transformative power of inclusive practices.

Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, will take part in a special Fireside Chat titled “The UAE Journey to Inclusion: The Role of Sports in Driving Inclusion.” He will discuss the UAE’s efforts to champion social inclusion within the country and beyond, as part of its broader strategy outlined in the National Sports Strategy 2031. Al Falasi emphasized that the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi marked the beginning of a long-term partnership with Special Olympics, laying the groundwork for advancing national social inclusion goals.

Mary Davis, CEO of Special Olympics, praised the UAE’s ongoing commitment to the cause and noted that the Global Centre for Inclusion supports 25 programmes across 25 countries, driving positive change for people with intellectual disabilities.

Zayed University Acting Vice President, Professor Michael Allen, highlighted the institution’s commitment to creating an inclusive academic environment. Through its Student Accessibility Services department, Zayed University offers tailored support and assistive technologies to empower students of determination, ensuring they reach their full potential.

The summit represents a significant step in advancing global conversations around inclusivity and strengthening efforts to build a more inclusive society through collaboration and advocacy.
