Doha, The Gulf Observer:  The Ambassador of Qatar to Germany, H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani, has said that the German Chancellor’s visit to Qatar on Sunday reflects the distinguished level that relations between the two friendly countries have reached in all aspects, noting that the visit will be the first for the German Chancellor since he took office in December 2021.

The Qatari ambassador recalled HH the Amir’s visit to Berlin in May 2022 when the two countries signed three agreements in the fields of defence, energy and investment, noting that Qatar’s sovereign and private investments are some of the largest in Germany.

He added that the volume of trade exchanged between the two countries exceeded $3bn last year, and that nearly 300 German companies are contributing to the development of the Qatari economy in various fields.

The ambassador added that the current global situation, which is heavily hit by crises and conflicts, including high inflation rates, the state of food security and energy shortages. It requires activating mechanisms of cooperation and continuous consultation between the leaderships of the two countries.
