Ilham Aliyev visits Ahmedbeyli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway

Fuzuli, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited Fuzuli district on July 20, according to Azerbaijani media reports that the President Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with the construction of the 27-kilometer section of the 1st technical class Ahmedbeyli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway to the Fuzuli International Airport.

Saleh Mammadov, Chairman of the Management Board of the State Agency of Motorways of Azerbaijan, informed the head of state about the work done.

It was reported that the design and construction of the Ahmedbeyli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway is being rapidly continued within the framework of the reconstruction and restoration project of the liberated territories. The length of the existing road is 101 kilometers, and the length of the new road is 81.7 kilometers. The 48-kilometer section of the road up to Tugh circle will consist of six lanes, and the 33.7-kilometer section will consist of four lanes.

Main infrastructure works have been completed in the 27-kilometer section of the road under inspection. In total, 50 percent of the construction of the Ahmedbeyli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway has been completed. 137 culverts of different diameters, 30 underpasses, 8 bridges, 7 tunnels and 9 viaducts are being built along the road. The total length of bridges is 984 meters, and the length of viaducts is 2090 meters.

It was reported that eight of the nine viaducts planned to be built under the project are currently under construction. During the construction of three viaducts, for the first time in Azerbaijan, concreting works were carried out by the method of horizontal sliding of the formwork. In addition, the construction works of the junction on the part of the Zafar road connecting to the Ahmadbeyli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway are also being successfully implemented.
