Iran and Tanzania Sign MoU to Enhance Trade and Industrial Cooperation
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The head of the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO), Farshad Moghimi, and the director general of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority, Latifa M. Khamis, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance trade and industrial cooperation between the two countries. This significant development occurred at the conclusion of the fifth meeting of the Iran-Tanzania Joint Commission on Sunday.
The MoU aims to establish a framework for collaborative efforts in various sectors, with both parties expressing their readiness to convene a joint committee in the near future to facilitate and implement these initiatives.
Moghimi emphasized that Tanzania’s critical industrial needs include transportation infrastructure, energy supply, raw materials, industrial machinery, mining equipment, and support for the pharmaceutical industry.
The fifth Iran-Tanzania Joint Economic Commission, held from October 18 to 20 in Dar es Salaam, marked a resumption of formal discussions after a 16-year hiatus. The meeting included the participation of Iranian Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh, along with officials and private sector representatives from both nations. During this session, 11 cooperation documents were signed, demonstrating the Iranian government’s commitment to strengthening ties with African countries, particularly Tanzania.
The sixth meeting of the Iran-Tanzania Joint Commission is scheduled to take place in 2026 in Tehran, aiming to continue fostering economic collaboration between the two nations.
