Abdullah bin Zayed

Washington, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates announced an additional US$1.2 billion in support for Gaza through the Board of Peace during the inaugural meeting held in Washington under the chairmanship and invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The contribution was announced by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, during his address to a high-level gathering of heads of state, senior officials, and international decision-makers.

Strengthening Peace and Reconstruction Efforts

The meeting convened global leaders as part of coordinated efforts to activate peace frameworks, advance reconstruction pathways, and develop sustainable approaches to long-term regional stability.

Sheikh Abdullah’s participation marked the beginning of his working visit to the United States, reflecting the depth of the strategic partnership between the UAE and the United States and their shared commitment to reinforcing international initiatives aimed at consolidating regional security.

In his remarks, Sheikh Abdullah thanked President Trump for convening the meeting, expressing hope that the advent of Ramadan would guide all parties toward peace, coexistence, and prosperity.

Continued Humanitarian Commitment

Recalling the launch of the Abraham Accords more than five years ago — initiated by President Trump, UAE President H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Prime Minister of Israel — Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the UAE’s ongoing engagement in regional diplomacy.

He noted that since the events of October 7, the UAE has provided nearly US$3 billion in humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people in Gaza.

“Today, the UAE announces a further US$1.2 billion for supporting Gaza through the Board of Peace,” Sheikh Abdullah stated, expressing appreciation for international partners involved in advancing the initiative.

He also acknowledged President Trump’s role in facilitating diplomatic engagement, including previous high-level meetings aimed at ending the conflict.

UAE Delegation

Sheikh Abdullah was accompanied at the meeting by Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States.

The UAE’s additional financial pledge underscores its continued commitment to humanitarian relief, reconstruction efforts, and the pursuit of sustainable peace and stability in the Gaza Strip.
