Abdullah bin Zayed Meets UN Senior Coordinator Sigrid Kaag on Gaza Humanitarian Crisis
New York, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, held a meeting with Sigrid Kaag, UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, to discuss the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
During their discussions, Sheikh Abdullah and Kaag addressed the severe conditions affecting civilians in Gaza and examined strategies to enhance the international response to the worsening situation. They emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to address the immediate needs of those affected by the ongoing conflict.
In addition to exploring the critical humanitarian situation, both sides reviewed ongoing regional and international efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza. The cessation of hostilities would enable the safe, sufficient, and sustainable delivery of essential humanitarian aid to civilians.
Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, emphasizing the UAE’s dedication to cooperating with the United Nations and other international partners to alleviate the suffering of civilians in Gaza. “The UAE stands by its brothers in Palestine and will continue to work with international actors to ensure that much-needed aid reaches those in need,” he stated.
The meeting was also attended by senior UAE officials, including Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and Ambassador Mohamed Abushahab, the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
The UAE’s humanitarian efforts reflect its broader commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region, with a focus on ensuring the well-being of civilians affected by conflict.
