Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre (ADHMMC) has officially launched its Strategy for 2025–2027, a major step aligned with the directives of the Abu Dhabi Government and the vision of the wise leadership. The strategy aims to enhance the emirate’s hazardous materials management system, ensuring public safety, environmental protection, and sustainable development.

The strategy is designed to bolster the centre’s capacity to fulfill its vital mission of safeguarding the community and the environment from the risks associated with hazardous materials. It introduces a comprehensive regulatory framework covering all stages of hazardous materials handling—from production and transportation to storage and disposal—through advanced technologies, proactive monitoring, and collaboration with relevant partners in an investment-friendly ecosystem.

Key pillars of the strategy include:

  • Integrated hazardous materials management
  • Empowerment and capacity building
  • Institutional maturity and readiness
  • Development of legislative and regulatory frameworks

These objectives aim to support effective governance, ensure full compliance with regulations, and enhance safety measures across the emirate.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed Saif bin Zaytoon Al Muhairi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, emphasized:

“The launch of the centre’s strategy is a pivotal step in reinforcing the hazardous materials management system in the emirate. It reflects our leadership’s vision and commitment to building a safe, sustainable, and investment-attractive environment in the capital, further establishing Abu Dhabi as a global hub for sustainability and innovation.”

Khalfan Abdulla Khalfan Almansoori, Acting Director-General of ADHMMC, highlighted that the new strategy provides a roadmap for qualitative advancements in hazardous materials management.

“This strategy represents a crucial move toward a more sustainable future, in alignment with Abu Dhabi’s national agenda and its broader plans for economic and social development,” he stated.

Almansoori added that the centre will adopt cutting-edge technologies and develop an integrated digital ecosystem that includes centralised databases and smart tracking systems to monitor hazardous materials proactively. These digital tools aim to boost operational efficiency and align with Abu Dhabi’s broader digital transformation journey.

With a strong focus on values such as professionalism, excellence, integrity, integration, and proactiveness, the ADHMMC aims to continue applying international best practices and reinforce its position as a leading institution committed to public safety and environmental sustainability.

The 2025–2027 strategy reaffirms Abu Dhabi’s commitment to forward-looking governance and positions the emirate as a global leader in responsible hazardous materials management.
