Abu Dhabi Named Global Host for International Jazz Day 2025

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Herbie Hancock have announced that Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, will serve as the Global Host for the 2025 edition of International Jazz Day, celebrated annually on April 30th. This prestigious event honors the sound of artistic freedom and will be presented in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism—Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).
Celebrating Cultural Heritage
The 2025 celebration will be deeply rooted in Abu Dhabi’s rich cultural heritage, characterized by a blend of Arab and Emirati traditions. Classical instruments such as the Oud, Qanoon, and Ney will introduce global audiences to ‘Arabic Jazz,’ showcasing the interplay of local musical traditions and jazz that dates back decades.
