Action Month for Children 2024 Launched in Thừa Thiên-Huế
Thừa Thiên-Huế, The Gulf Observer: The Action Month for Children 2024 was inaugurated with a ceremony in the central province of Thừa Thiên-Huế on June 1. Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà, Chairman of the National Committee for Children, emphasized the collective efforts of the Party, State, families, and teachers to ensure comprehensive growth for children.
In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Hà highlighted the increasing focus on enhancing infrastructure, welfare facilities, social services, healthcare, and education for children, particularly in disadvantaged, ethnic minority, border, and maritime regions. However, he pointed out that millions of children with special circumstances or at risk of such circumstances still require significant assistance. He called for a concerted effort from all levels of the political system and individuals to prioritize children’s needs with greater attention and resources.
Hà urged ministries, sectors, and local Party committees and administrations to heighten their responsibility towards children’s development. He advocated for the creation of a comprehensive national strategy for children’s development and a robust, multi-layered system of welfare and social services. Ensuring that children fully enjoy their rights, are free from discrimination, and have their voices heard and respected is paramount. The Deputy PM also stressed the importance of developing high-quality cultural, literary, artistic, and educational works tailored for children.
Deputy PM Hà expressed hope that children across the nation would be diligent in their studies, cherish their families, show compassion for the less fortunate, engage in physical activities, and actively seek knowledge and culture to become global citizens. He encouraged children to nurture a love for the Fatherland, value peace and freedom, and strive to realize their dreams, thereby contributing to national development.
This year’s Action Month for Children, themed “Acting Practically, Prioritizing Resources for Children,” aims to support each commune in building or upgrading at least one facility for children. It also encourages every member of socio-political and social organizations to take practical actions for children’s welfare.
During the event, Deputy PM Hà presented gifts to 50 children with special backgrounds and bicycles to 30 others. Additionally, the Thừa Thiên-Huế Fund for Children received over VNĐ7 billion (US$275,000) in donations from benefactors.
On the same day, Deputy PM Hà and Thừa Thiên-Huế officials attended a ceremony marking the completion of the roofing for a multifunctional hall at Vỹ Dạ Primary School. They also visited and presented gifts to children at the SOS Children’s Village in Huế City.
