Baku, The Gulf Observer: ADA University in Baku hosted the opening of the 9th Meeting of Azerbaijani Diplomatic Service Bodies, convened under the theme “Azerbaijan’s Foreign Policy After the Restoration of Sovereignty: Priorities and Challenges.” The high-level event brought together senior officials, diplomats, and policy experts to deliberate on Azerbaijan’s evolving diplomatic agenda and strategic objectives.

Opening remarks were delivered by Hafiz Pashayev, Rector of ADA University; Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan; and Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration. The speakers highlighted Azerbaijan’s foreign policy achievements in areas such as economy, security, energy, culture, and communications, while also offering insights into the regional and global security environment.

Deliberations centered on strengthening Azerbaijan’s bilateral and multilateral partnerships, enhancing engagement with regional and international organizations, and exploring emerging dimensions of foreign policy such as climate diplomacy and mediation initiatives. Particular attention was given to the development of new foreign policy tools and the deepening of strategic alliances.

Participants were also briefed on the post-conflict realities in the South Caucasus, emphasizing the large-scale reconstruction activities underway in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories. Updates were provided on the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, with discussions addressing key impediments to lasting peace, particularly the need for Armenia to remove territorial claims against Azerbaijan from its constitution.

The program, which continues through July 9, includes thematic panel discussions covering a broad spectrum of issues. Topics include bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, economic and energy diplomacy, climate diplomacy, legal and humanitarian efforts, connectivity, foreign aid, parliamentary diplomacy, diaspora engagement, and the strengthening of diplomatic service institutions.

Notably, the final day of the meeting will take place in Khankendi on July 9, in commemoration of the professional holiday of Azerbaijan’s diplomatic service bodies. The continuation of the meeting in Khankendi underscores Azerbaijan’s commitment to the full restoration of sovereignty and integration of all national territories into its diplomatic and administrative framework.
