ADA University Launches Joint Certificate Program on Sustainable Horticulture Systems

ADA University

Baku, The Gulf Observer: ADA University has unveiled a pioneering joint certificate program dedicated to Sustainable Horticulture Systems in collaboration with MacFrut Academy and the University of Bologna, as reported by Azerbaijani media. The initiative is part of the Italy-Azerbaijan University project and aims to serve as a dynamic platform fostering dialogue among various institutions in the agricultural and food sectors of Azerbaijan and Italy.

The comprehensive program is structured into three modules, with the first module scheduled to take place from February 19 to 23, 2024, at ADA University in Baku. This initial module, designed for professionals in the relevant sector, will bring together representatives from industry, government, and academia to exchange ideas and address the current challenges faced by local small and medium enterprises in the horticulture field.

Participants will undergo training to glean insights from global trends and international best practices, adapting them to the local context for modern problem-solving. The program includes seminars with researchers and international experts, business meetings between horticulture producers in Azerbaijan and Italy, and a concluding Italian-Azerbaijani Horticulture exhibition on February 23. The exhibition, in partnership with MacFrut, Caspian Agro, and the support of Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), will facilitate collaboration between Azerbaijani and Italian companies.

The subsequent modules are scheduled for April and May, with the second module providing theoretical knowledge and insights into advanced agro-food technology and experiences from the MacFrut exhibition. The final module, taking place concurrently with the MacFrut exhibition in Italy, offers participants access to the exhibition and a special program to enhance business relations and improve products and services in the agricultural sector.

The collaboration with MacFrut not only enriches the participants’ learning experience but also provides a unique opportunity to establish beneficial business relationships. The program falls under the activities of the newly established Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, a joint venture between ADA University and the University of Bologna, emphasizing their commitment to organizing short-term courses for professionals in the sector.

The Sustainable Horticultural Systems program follows the successful launch of the first program in this domain last year, themed “Management of Agriculture and Food System,” highlighting the institutions’ dedication to advancing education and expertise in the field of agriculture and food sciences.
