ADEK Launches New Edition of Summer Program to Empower Emirati Students

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has launched a new edition of its Summer Program, aimed at upskilling, preparing, and empowering Emirati students. This initiative offers unique opportunities for students to explore their passions by studying at 14 leading universities in 12 countries across four continents.

A total of 181 top-performing Emirati students in grades 10 and 11 from public, private, and charter schools in Abu Dhabi have been selected for this program. These students are part of ADEK’s enrichment programs, including Rize UPCG, Rize Honors, and Sports programs.

Participants will have the chance to explore pathways at prestigious educational institutions in the United States, India, China, Singapore, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand. They will study a variety of majors, including Creative Industries and Design, Culinary Arts, Education and Culture, Entrepreneurship, Music Performance, Wildlife Conservation, and more.

This academic opportunity aligns with ADEK’s objectives to upskill talented students, foster a global mindset, expand knowledge, engage with diverse cultures, and promote academic and personal growth on an international scale. Participation in the program also enhances students’ chances of being accepted into the Abu Dhabi Scholarships program.

The list of universities now includes four of the world’s top institutions: Harvard University, Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley, and the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Mubarak Hamad Al Mheiri, Under-Secretary of ADEK, stated, “Following a successful program last year, this expansion— in terms of the number of students, countries, universities involved, and the number of programs available—underlines our commitment to nurturing even more talented and aspiring students and empowering them to expand their knowledge beyond classroom boundaries.”

He added, “ADEK Summer Program students are encouraged to pursue post-secondary studies internationally at top-tier and recognized universities and discover their passion. This will also equip them with the required future skills across critical growth sectors in the emirate and globally.”

To ensure student readiness for international studies, ADEK organizes comprehensive pre-departure orientation sessions for each student group traveling to their respective international universities. These sessions provide students with extensive knowledge to navigate their international academic journeys and maximize their potential for success.
