Air China Expands UK Flight Services with New Beijing-London Gatwick Route

London, The Gulf Observer: Air China has expanded its flight services to the United Kingdom by launching a direct route between Beijing Capital Airport and London Gatwick Airport. The new route was inaugurated with a ceremony held at London Gatwick Airport on Saturday.

The flight, designated CA851/2, will operate daily, enhancing connectivity between the two capitals. Jonathan Pollard, Chief Commercial Officer of London Gatwick Airport, expressed his enthusiasm for the new service. Speaking to Xinhua, Pollard remarked that as the UK’s second-largest airport, the increased flights on the London-Beijing route will bolster exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK, particularly in trade and tourism.

“I think today’s new service is a testament to the growth that we’re seeing in the UK and China markets,” Pollard added, highlighting the positive trajectory of bilateral relations.

The inaugural flight saw nearly 250 passengers traveling directly to Beijing, many of whom were making their first trip to China since the onset of the pandemic. Passengers included those visiting family, vacationers, and business travelers. In a press release issued on Sunday, Air China emphasized the significance of this route in reconnecting people and promoting mutual understanding and economic ties between the two nations.

The daily flights are expected to facilitate greater movement and foster closer ties, reflecting the ongoing recovery and expansion of international travel post-pandemic.
