All set for sold-out ‘Moira, The World Tour Qatar’ concert
The multi-platinum Filipino singer and songwriter, Moira Dela Torre, is expected to bring together some 4,200 spectators at the Al Gharafa Sports Club Indoor Hall tonight
Doha, The Gulf Observer: The tickets to the much-awaited ‘Moira, The World Tour Qatar’ are sold-out. The multi-platinum Filipino singer and songwriter, Moira Dela Torre, is expected to bring together some 4,200 spectators at the Al Gharafa Sports Club Indoor Hall tonight, February 10, at 7 pm.
“I’ve come to Qatar wearing my heart on my sleeve. I’m just very excited to do our best and to give you guys a great show,” said the hitmaker at yesterday’s press conference.
“I’m very touched by the warm and sweet welcome by everyone, the Filipino community, and I’m just so happy that besides my band, I have guests that can dance and can make the audience laugh, so there’s no pressure for me to do those parts,” she added.
Moira was referring to her featured guests, the young Filipino actor-singer Kyle Echarri and two popular Filipino comedians, Boobay and Ate Guy.
The Qatar concert is the first leg of Moira’s first-ever world tour before she performs across the US and Canada.
“Kicking off my world tour here in Qatar is such a big thing. To be in front of you and looking at each one of you right now— I’m so thankful and I really, really mean it,” she said to audience applause.
When asked by media if she has a ritual before every performance, Moira replied: “Besides emotional preparations, I drink a lot of water, I try to vocalise, I avoid sweets, and I also make sure that I’m mentally prepared for the show because I don’t want to get up on stage and sing you empty songs.”
After the press conference at Central Cafe, a ‘Meet & Greet’ event with fans was held at the Ezdan Towers West Bay.
Sandra Binco, an avid fan of Moira, said: “The event was very organised, and the venue and food were great. Now I just have to wait for Moira to make me cry with her breakup songs.”
Another supporter, Marriane Polangcos, said she’s excited to watch her idol perform live and is looking forward to hearing Moira’s latest song ‘Ikaw at Sila’.
Produced by Royal Sports and Events, ‘Moira, The World Tour Qatar’ promises a night of quality entertainment to OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) and other nationalities, said the CEO, Jonar Paz.
Moira transformed her career by lending her voice to corporate jingles and commercials to become an award-winning recording artist and Spotify’s most-followed and most-streamed Filipino singer for six consecutive years. Known for her heartfelt music and delicate voice, she currently has 2.7 million followers on Twitter, 4.2 million on Instagram, and 3.1 million subscribers on YouTube.
Moira plans to stay in Qatar for a day or two to explore popular landmarks in the country, but first, she said she can’t wait to see fans and supporters at the concert!
