Araghchi Represents Iran at Doha Meeting on Israeli Attack

Araghchi

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Foreign Ministers from the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convened in Doha on Sunday to lay the groundwork for an emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, which will address the recent Israeli airstrike on the Qatari capital.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is representing the country at the preparatory meeting, which began on Sunday afternoon. Prior to the session, Araghchi held separate talks with several of his counterparts from participating states.

President Masoud Pezeshkian is expected to attend the emergency summit scheduled for Monday.

The summit comes in response to Israeli warplanes carrying out an airstrike on Doha last week, targeting senior Hamas leaders who had convened in the city to discuss a US-backed ceasefire proposal for Gaza.

The gathering of Arab and Islamic leaders in Doha is aimed at coordinating a collective response to the act of aggression against Qatar, which has played a key mediating role between Israel and Hamas.
