Astana Media Week 2024 Officially Opens at Kazmedia Centre

Astana, The Gulf Observer: The annual Astana Media Week opened with a solemn ceremony at the Kazmedia Centre in the Kazakh capital today, NHC reports. Kazakh Vice Minister of Culture and Information Kanat Iskakov delivered a congratulatory message on behalf of Minister Aida Balayeva, emphasizing the critical role of media in shaping modern society.
In her letter, Minister Balayeva highlighted the theme of this year’s event, ‘Media Influence and Digital Harmony,’ which underscores the profound impact of information in the current technological age. “Media not only disseminates information but also plays a key role in shaping culture and public opinion,” she noted. As digital technologies continue to evolve, the Minister emphasized, they are transforming media trends and enhancing the skills of media professionals, opening new horizons for the industry. She praised Astana Media Week for providing a professional platform where media leaders, experts, and professionals can debate pressing issues and collaborate on future developments.
The three-day event features a wide range of discussions, including expert training to meet the ever-changing demands of the media market, and a lecture on the influence of AI and digital technologies on the media industry. Participants will also attend closed-door pitch sessions, networking opportunities, and an interactive session focused on the new draft law On Media. The event has attracted international media organizations, including Deutsche Welle (DW), NHK, Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), CGTN, TRT, and Setanta Sports.
One of the key highlights of the event is the Content Market scheduled for September 25 and 26, where Kazakhstan’s TV channels and production companies will present their projects to media professionals and investors.
On September 27, a solemn Best Press Service Award ceremony will be held, recognizing outstanding contributions to media communications. Workshops on media innovations, the role of national identity, and digital communications ethics will also take place.
Astana Media Week, which has become a premier media event in Central Asia, continues to address critical issues in the industry, with last year’s debates centering on mass media legislation.
Minister Balayeva concluded her message by wishing all participants success in their efforts to advance the media landscape.
