Ayatollah Khamenei Rejects Proxy Claims, Asserts Iran’s Independent Strength

Ayatollah Khamenei

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has dismissed claims that Iran relies on proxy forces in the West Asia region, emphasizing that the Islamic Republic operates independently and does not need proxies.

“Some constantly say that the Islamic Republic has lost its proxy forces in the region. This is yet another incorrect statement. The Islamic Republic does not have proxy forces,” Ayatollah Khamenei said during a gathering of elegists and eulogists on Sunday, commemorating the birth anniversary of Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (SA), the daughter of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

The Leader clarified that regional movements such as Yemen’s resistance, Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad act on their own faith and beliefs, not as proxies of Iran. “Yemen fights because of its faith; Hezbollah fights because its faith empowers it to take action; Hamas and [Islamic] Jihad fight because their beliefs compel them to do so. They are not acting on our behalf,” he stated.

He further emphasized Iran’s capability to act autonomously if necessary. “If one day we decide to take action, we do not need proxy forces,” Ayatollah Khamenei declared.

Optimism for Regional Stability

The Supreme Leader also expressed hope for a “strong and dignified” movement to emerge in Syria despite current challenges. He highlighted the struggles of young Syrians living in unsafe conditions and predicted a transformative shift. “I predict that a powerful and honorable group will rise in Syria as well,” he remarked.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged steadfast resistance against forces orchestrating regional instability. “We must stand with strength and determination against those who have designed and implemented this insecurity, and God willing, we will prevail over them,” he said, reaffirming optimism for the region’s future.

Criticism of US and Israeli Policies

Ayatollah Khamenei criticized the United States for employing a dual strategy to dominate nations—either installing despotic regimes or inciting unrest when such regimes cannot be established. He referred to Syria as a case where the US resorted to creating disorder.

“The Americans, the Zionist regime, and their accomplices feel they have succeeded, leading them to make boastful claims. This is the nature of evildoers — when they believe they’ve won, they lose control of their tongues and utter nonsense,” he said.

The Supreme Leader dismissed recent comments from US officials as baseless provocations, highlighting national resilience. “The Iranian nation will crush underfoot anyone who accepts to act as America’s mercenary in this matter,” he asserted, calling for unity and vigilance against foreign interference.

Ayatollah Khamenei concluded by reaffirming Iran’s strength and independence in the face of external pressures, projecting confidence in the nation’s ability to overcome challenges.
