Azerbaijan and Pakistan Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Key Agreements in Energy, Diplomacy, and Culture

Baku, The Gulf Observer: A significant ceremony marking the exchange of signed documents between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan took place today in Baku, with the esteemed presence of Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, and Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The event saw key representatives from both nations participate in the formal exchange of memoranda and agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in various sectors. Rovshan Najaf, President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), and Abdul Sami, Director General of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO), exchanged the “Memorandum of Understanding between SOCAR and FWO, and Pakistan State Oil Company Limited.”

Further strengthening bilateral energy ties, Najaf also signed the “Memorandum of Understanding between SOCAR and Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL), and Pakistan State Oil Company Limited” with Zahid Mir, CEO of PRL.

In a continued effort to enhance energy collaboration, Najaf and Masood Nabi, CEO of Pakistan LNG Limited, exchanged the “Amendment Agreement No. 1 to the Framework Agreement for the Sale and Purchase of LNG Cargoes” between SOCAR Trading SA and Pakistan LNG Limited.

Additionally, Najaf and Syed Muhammad Taha, CEO of Pakistan State Oil Company Limited, formalized the “Memorandum of Understanding between SOCAR Trading SA and Pakistan State Oil Company Limited,” as well as the “Acknowledgment for Term Sale and Purchase Agreement for Petroleum Products between SOCAR Trading SA and Pakistan State Oil Company Limited.”

On the diplomatic front, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed the “Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation” between the cities of Nakhchivan and Lahore. This agreement focuses on enhancing collaboration in various areas, including culture, tourism, urban planning, education, science, economy, and more, fostering deeper ties between the two nations at the local level.

The ceremony underscored the growing partnership between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, with an emphasis on collaboration in energy, diplomacy, and cultural exchange, signaling a strengthened and more diversified relationship between the two countries.
