Azerbaijan Assumes Chairmanship of TURKPA
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan has officially taken over the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TURKPA). The decision was made during the 13th meeting of the TURKPA Council held in Baku, according to media reports.
In a formal handover ceremony, Numan Kurtulmuş, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, transferred the chairmanship to Sahiba Gafarova, Chairman of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The transition marks a significant moment in the leadership of TURKPA, an organization dedicated to fostering cooperation among Turkic-speaking nations. The assembly is committed to enhancing political, economic, and cultural ties within the Turkic world.
Chairman Kurtulmuş expressed his confidence in Azerbaijan’s ability to lead TURKPA, highlighting the country’s active role in promoting unity and collaboration among member states.
Chairwoman Gafarova, upon receiving the chairmanship, reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s dedication to the goals of TURKPA and its commitment to further strengthening the bonds between Turkic-speaking countries. She emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and dialogue to address common challenges and achieve shared objectives.
The 13th meeting of the TURKPA Council provided a platform for member states to discuss and strategize on various issues of mutual interest, aiming to enhance the collective progress and development of the Turkic-speaking community.
With Azerbaijan at the helm, TURKPA is poised to advance its mission of fostering regional solidarity and cooperation, reflecting the shared values and aspirations of its member countries.
