Azerbaijan, Czech Republic Discuss Climate Cooperation and COP Process in Prague

Baku, The Gulf Observer: As part of his visit to the Czech Republic, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Yalchin Rafiyev, took part in the forum titled “Building a Resilient Future in a Changing Climate”, organized by Finland’s 2025 OSCE Chairpersonship in Prague. In his address to the event, Rafiyev underscored the historic outcomes of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, hosted by Azerbaijan, emphasizing the significance of the adopted decisions and their contribution to global climate action. He also outlined the potential role of the OSCE as a regional security organization in addressing climate-related challenges.

During his visit, Rafiyev held bilateral meetings with senior officials, including Jan Marian, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic, and Ambassador Vesa Häkkinen, Finland’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE and Chair of the Permanent Council.

In his meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Jan Marian, the two sides discussed prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic within multilateral platforms, shared views on combating climate change and the COP process, and touched upon preparations for COP30.
