Azerbaijan Defense Minister Receives Austrian Defense Delegation
Baku, The Gulf Observer: The Azerbaijan Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, welcomed a delegation led by Dr. Arnold Kammel, Secretary General of the Federal Minister of Defense of Austria, during an official visit to Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Defense informed media about the details of the meeting.
Colonel General Hasanov expressed his pleasure in hosting representatives from a friendly and partner nation, highlighting the significance of their visit to Azerbaijan. During the discussions, the Defense Minister provided an extensive briefing on the ongoing demining efforts in the territories liberated following the Victory in the Patriotic War. This operation has been conducted under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
The meeting underscored the critical importance of enhancing strategic partnerships and broadening security relations between the two nations. Additionally, the Defense Minister highlighted the involvement of Azerbaijani servicemen in various courses, seminars, and training sessions organized by Austria as part of the European Union’s Eastern Partnership program.
In a gesture of continued cooperation, Colonel General Hasanov extended an invitation to Dr. Kammel to attend the 5th Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition (ADEX), scheduled to be held in Baku in September 2024.
Dr. Arnold Kammel expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and stressed the importance of further developing military cooperation between Austria and Azerbaijan.
The meeting concluded with a discussion on the current state of bilateral relations in military, military-technical, and military educational fields. Both sides emphasized the need for organizing staff talks and mutual visits to foster and enhance joint military collaboration.
