Azerbaijan, Iran Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Security, Welcome Ceasefire

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone conversation with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to discuss the evolving regional security situation and the recently achieved ceasefire.

During the call, both sides exchanged views on the current dynamics in the region, with Minister Bayramov welcoming the ceasefire and underscoring its importance in de-escalating tensions, facilitating dialogue, and ensuring broader regional stability.

The two officials acknowledged the constructive role played by mediator countries, particularly Pakistan, described as a friendly and brotherly nation, in helping facilitate the ceasefire agreement.

Minister Bayramov emphasized the necessity of strict adherence to the ceasefire, highlighting that sustainable peace can only be achieved through continued diplomatic engagement. He expressed optimism that the upcoming talks in Islamabad would yield productive and result-oriented outcomes.

Reaffirming Azerbaijan’s commitment to peace, Bayramov stated that his country stands ready to support initiatives aimed at promoting long-term stability, security, and cooperation across the region.

The conversation also covered other issues of mutual interest between the two countries.
