Azerbaijan Olympic House Opens in Paris Ahead of 2024 Games
Paris, The Gulf Observer: The opening ceremony of the Azerbaijan Olympic House was held at the Cultural Center of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France, marking a significant milestone in the country’s participation in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, according to media.
The event saw the attendance of several high-profile figures, including Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan (NOC), Azer Aliyev, NOC Vice President, Chingiz Huseynzade, Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to France, Leyla Abdullayeva, Turkish Ambassador to France, Yunus Demirer, Permanent Delegate of Azerbaijan to UNESCO, Elman Abdullayev, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Russian Embassy. Representatives of various Olympic committees, local community members, the Azerbaijani diaspora, and journalists also attended the event.
In their addresses, Ambassador Abdullayeva and Vice President Huseynzade announced that 48 Azerbaijani athletes are set to compete in 15 different sports disciplines during the upcoming Olympic Games. They highlighted Azerbaijan’s Olympic history, noting the country’s debut as an independent nation in the 1996 Olympics and the significant successes achieved since then. The speakers expressed confidence in the athletes’ potential for outstanding performances in the 33rd Summer Olympic Games.
The Azerbaijan Olympic House aims to welcome international visitors, offering them a chance to experience the country’s rich history, music, culture, and cuisine.
