Azerbaijan Participates in 14th OTS Economy and Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Turkistan

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Economy Rovnag Abdullayev attended the 14th Meeting of Ministers in Charge of Economy and Trade of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in the city of Turkistan, Kazakhstan.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Assan Darbayev and brought together senior officials from OTS member states to discuss key areas of regional economic cooperation.

In his address, Rovnag Abdullayev praised the steady development of multilateral cooperation within the OTS framework in recent years. He underscored Azerbaijan’s efforts to deepen economic ties and facilitate mutual trade among member countries. The Deputy Minister noted that the operational launch of the Turkic Investment Fund would act as a catalyst for enhanced regional economic integration.

Discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening economic collaboration across the OTS, with particular emphasis on trade facilitation, investment promotion, digital transformation, and expanding cooperation in transport and logistics. Participants also exchanged views on increasing the efficiency of the Middle Corridor as a strategic transit route linking Asia and Europe.

The meeting concluded with the signing of the Communique of the 14th Meeting and a Memorandum of Understanding on Partnership in Trade, along with the approval of several strategic documents aimed at reinforcing economic cooperation within the organization.

It was agreed that the 15th Meeting of Ministers in Charge of Economy and Trade of the OTS will be hosted by Azerbaijan in the second half of 2026.

On the sidelines of the event, Deputy Minister Rovnag Abdullayev held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Minister of Trade of Türkiye Sezai Uçarmak. The discussions focused on further strengthening the Azerbaijan-Türkiye economic partnership, promoting non-oil sectors, advancing digital commerce, and exploring new avenues for bilateral cooperation.
