Azerbaijan Resettles 54 More Families in Liberated Khojali District Under “Great Return” Program

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan has resettled another group of families in the Khojali District as part of the ongoing “Great Return” state program, which aims to restore life in territories liberated from Armenian occupation.
According to media reports, a total of 54 families have returned to their native lands — 27 families (116 individuals) to the village of Shushakand and 27 families (117 individuals) to Tazabina. The newly resettled residents were warmly welcomed as they began rebuilding their lives in the restored communities.
Local residents expressed deep gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for their continued support in facilitating the safe and dignified return of displaced persons. They also commended the Azerbaijani Armed Forces for their decisive role in liberating the occupied territories and ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region.
The resettlement marks another milestone in Azerbaijan’s efforts to repopulate and revitalize the liberated areas of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, where extensive reconstruction and infrastructure development projects are underway.
To date, more than 50,000 people have returned to live in these regions, including former internally displaced persons (IDPs), as well as professionals and employees engaged in restoration, construction, and public service sectors. The growing population also includes specialists in healthcare, education, culture, tourism, industry, and energy, contributing to the region’s rapid socio-economic revival.
The “Great Return” program remains a key component of Azerbaijan’s national development strategy, reflecting the government’s commitment to rebuilding liberated territories and ensuring sustainable living conditions for returning citizens.
