Azerbaijan Resumes Embassy Operations in Iran Following Ceasefire

Azerbaijan

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan has officially resumed the operations of its embassy in Iran, marking a significant diplomatic step following recent regional developments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday.

According to a press release issued by the ministry, the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Islamic Republic of Iran recommenced its activities on April 12. In the initial phase, the mission will function with a limited number of diplomatic and administrative personnel, including the ambassador.

The ministry noted that, taking into account security and organizational considerations, the embassy’s operations will be restored gradually in a phased manner.

The decision to resume diplomatic functions comes shortly after the cessation of military operations in Iran and the announcement of a two-week ceasefire, reflecting Azerbaijan’s commitment to strengthening its relations with its neighboring country.

Highlighting the importance of the move, the ministry emphasized that the reopening of the embassy demonstrates the high value Azerbaijan places on its ties with Iran, describing the relationship as one between neighboring and friendly nations.

Reaffirming its broader foreign policy stance, Azerbaijan reiterated its support for initiatives aimed at promoting lasting peace and stability across the region.
