Azerbaijan

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Under the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations has dispatched humanitarian aid to the Islamic Republic of Iran to support the needs of the Iranian people.

The humanitarian assistance includes approximately 30 tons of food products and essential supplies. According to Emil Hasanzade, Director of the Reserves Control Department of the State Reserves Agency of Azerbaijan, the shipment comprises 10 tons of flour, 6 tons of rice, 2.4 tons of sugar, more than 4 tons of drinking water, around 600 kilograms of tea, and nearly 2 tons of medicines and medical supplies.

Hasanzade stated that the vehicles carrying the humanitarian cargo have already been dispatched and will reach their destination as quickly as possible.

The aid initiative follows a telephone conversation held on March 8 between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, during which the Azerbaijani side expressed its readiness to support the neighboring and friendly Iranian people in addressing their current needs.

The humanitarian aid convoy is being accompanied to the Iranian city of Astara by authorized officials of Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers, Niyazi Rahimov and Gurban Sadigov.
