Azerbaijan to Celebrate 900th Anniversary of Poet Khagani Shirvani

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the renowned Azerbaijani poet Khagani Shirvani, underscoring the country’s commitment to preserving and promoting its rich literary and cultural heritage.
According to the order, the Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, has been instructed to prepare and implement a comprehensive plan of events dedicated to commemorating the life and legacy of Khagani Shirvani, one of the most prominent figures in Azerbaijani literature.
The Cabinet of Ministers has also been tasked with addressing and coordinating issues arising from the implementation of the presidential order to ensure the effective organisation of anniversary-related activities.
Khagani Shirvani, a towering literary figure of the 12th century, is widely regarded as a master of classical Azerbaijani poetry. The anniversary celebrations are expected to highlight his enduring influence on literature, culture and intellectual thought in Azerbaijan and the wider region.
