Azerbaijani and Uzbek Parliamentary Speakers Discuss Strengthening Inter-Parliamentary Ties

Baku, The Gulf Observer: On the sidelines of the 14th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held a meeting with Nurdinjon Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the two Speakers expressed satisfaction with the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, underscoring the strong and friendly ties rooted in shared history, culture, and mutual respect. They emphasized the significant role played by the heads of state of both countries in elevating bilateral relations to new heights.
Both sides noted that regular reciprocal visits and sustained high-level contacts had opened a new chapter in Azerbaijani-Uzbek cooperation. The Speakers highlighted that growing inter-parliamentary dialogue was making a tangible contribution to the overall development of bilateral relations.
Speaker Gafarova commended the strengthening collaboration between the Milli Majlis and both chambers of the Uzbek Parliament, recalling with appreciation her official visit to Uzbekistan and the return visits by Uzbek parliamentary leaders to Azerbaijan. She emphasized the positive momentum and continued institutional engagement between the legislative bodies.
The two sides also praised the successful cooperation between Azerbaijani and Uzbek parliamentarians both bilaterally and within multilateral parliamentary frameworks and international organizations.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other matters of mutual interest, reaffirming the shared commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries through deepened legislative cooperation.
