Washington Visit

Baku, The Gulf Observer: A special meeting dedicated to the historic Washington visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, was held today at the Cabinet of Ministers.

Opening the session, Prime Minister Ali Asadov underlined that President Aliyev’s triumphant visit to Washington has significantly enhanced Azerbaijan’s international standing and reputation, creating new opportunities for achieving lasting regional peace. He noted that the August 8 achievement—described as a “victory etched in golden letters in the history of Azerbaijani diplomacy”—was the direct outcome of President Aliyev’s strong leadership, determination, and principled policy.

Highlighting the importance of the high-level meetings and documents signed in Washington, the Prime Minister stressed that the visit was crucial both for elevating Azerbaijan–United States relations to a qualitatively new stage and for advancing vital steps toward long-term peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Particular emphasis was placed on the agreement reached regarding the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP). Prime Minister Asadov noted that this strategic project will not only ensure unimpeded communication between mainland Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic but will also accelerate the development of regional transport networks and expand trade and economic cooperation. He further emphasized the need for the government to work diligently and consistently toward the project’s implementation.

Other speakers at the meeting included Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, and Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Fuad Najafli.

The meeting concluded with the identification of priority tasks facing the government in light of the results of President Ilham Aliyev’s historic Washington visit.
