Azerbaijani FM Urges Iran to Conclude Probe into Nakhchivan Drone Attacks

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a telephone conversation on March 17 with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, to discuss regional developments and bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.

During the call, both sides exchanged views on the current regional situation as well as areas of mutual interest, reaffirming the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation.

Minister Bayramov underscored the significance of Iran finalizing its investigation in line with earlier commitments regarding the drone attacks launched on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic from Iranian territory. He stressed the need for accountability and transparency in addressing the incident.

Highlighting Azerbaijan’s position on ongoing regional tensions, Bayramov emphasized that civilian infrastructure must not be targeted under any circumstances. He reiterated Azerbaijan’s call for a swift de-escalation of hostilities and the resolution of existing challenges through diplomatic negotiations.

The two foreign ministers also discussed broader aspects of Azerbaijan-Iran relations, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining communication on issues of shared concern.
