Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Meets Malaysian Senate President in Baku

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova held a meeting with Awang Bemee bin Awang Ali Basah, President of the Senate of the Parliament of Malaysia, to discuss the enhancement of interparliamentary cooperation and bilateral relations.

Senate President Awang Bemee bin Awang Ali Basah commended the current level of ties between the two countries and their parliaments, expressing confidence that the visit of Speaker Gafarova would further strengthen bilateral cooperation. He highlighted the productive joint activities of both legislatures within international parliamentary forums, including the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova underlined the significance of parliamentary diplomacy and cooperation within international organizations, stressing the crucial role of parliaments in addressing issues that directly impact the people. She emphasized the importance of expanding interparliamentary collaboration as a key element of broader bilateral relations.

The sides noted the value of active engagement on international platforms and praised the fruitful cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies, both bilaterally and within multilateral parliamentary organizations.

Highlighting Azerbaijan’s achievements in recent years, Speaker Gafarova also drew attention to the large-scale restoration and reconstruction efforts currently underway in the country’s liberated territories.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other matters of mutual concern, reaffirming the commitment of both sides to further deepening parliamentary ties.
