Azerbaijan's First Deputy Minister of Defense Visits NATO Defense College in Rome

Rome, The Gulf Observer: Colonel General Karim Valiyev, First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, visited the NATO Defense College (NDC) in Rome on Friday as part of his official trip to Italy.

During his visit, Colonel General Valiyev met with NDC Commandant, Lieutenant General Max A.L.T. Nielsen, where they discussed opportunities and future perspectives for cooperation in military education, according to a statement from Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Italy, Rashad Aslanov, also attended the meeting.

Valiyev received a detailed briefing on the NATO Defense College’s history, its core activities, and the educational processes and facilities available.

At the conclusion of the visit, Colonel General Valiyev met with Azerbaijani servicemen and civilian personnel currently serving under the NATO Partnership Staff Post Concept and those participating in the NATO Regional Cooperation Course. He inquired about their educational experiences and the conditions provided to them as part of the cooperation framework.

This visit underscores Azerbaijan’s ongoing commitment to strengthening ties with NATO, particularly in the field of military education and training.
