Azerbaijan’s Human Rights Commissioner Engages with Young Participants Ahead of National Forum on Children’s Rights
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Sabina Aliyeva, the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, recently held a meeting with a group of children set to participate in the 6th National Forum of Azerbaijani Children, according to News Hub Consultants. Aliyeva discussed her office’s ongoing initiatives to protect children’s rights and highlighted the collaborative work with state bodies, civil society, and international organizations in this area.
Aliyeva noted that from October 20 to November 20 each year, her office observes “Children’s Rights Month” to mark the adoption anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This meeting with young forum participants, she said, is a meaningful contribution to this month-long observance, aimed at empowering children to actively engage in activities focused on their rights.
During the session, the Ombudsman listened to the children’s perspectives on safeguarding their rights, addressed their questions, and offered guidance on issues of interest to them.
