Bahrain to Host 29th Edition of Routes World 2024
Manama, The Gulf Observer: The Kingdom of Bahrain is set to host the twenty-ninth edition of Routes World 2024, the premier global event in the aviation industry, marking its first appearance in the region. The event will be held at Exhibition World Bahrain from October 6 to 8, 2024.
The announcement follows an agreement signed by Sarah Buhijji, CEO of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BETA), and Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Airport Company (BAC). The event is expected to draw over 2,500 industry experts and decision-makers, including representatives from airports, airlines, air services, tourism authorities, and leaders from the air navigation development community.
Sarah Buhijji emphasized that this agreement highlights Bahrain’s strong support for its aviation sector, a key contributor to the nation’s economic growth and transportation competitiveness. She acknowledged the continuous progress of the sector under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain’s debut as host of the world’s largest event in air transport signifies a notable milestone, underscoring its leadership as a premier logistics hub in the region,” Buhijji said. “This achievement solidifies Bahrain’s position as a foremost regional center for business tourism, showcasing its excellence in hosting major international events. This internationally renowned event will support Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 by fostering the Kingdom’s stand as a global competitive and sustainable economic center.”
She further noted that Routes World 2024 aligns with Bahrain’s Tourism Strategy 2022-2026, which aims to enhance the Kingdom’s position as a leading regional tourism destination. The strategy focuses on attracting more business tourists, diversifying tourist products, and promoting Exhibition World Bahrain as a prime venue for major international events.
Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah expressed pride in hosting Routes World 2024, highlighting its significance for Bahrain’s air transport sector. “We are confident that this edition of Routes World will be a resounding success, directly impacting the development of air transport services and logistics solutions,” he said. “It will also promote Bahrain International Airport’s advanced services, achievements, and global recognition, contributing to the national goal of attracting more tourists worldwide to the Kingdom.”
The 29th edition of Routes World will feature a variety of panel discussions, workshops, and intensive meetings aimed at advancing the global and regional air transport industry. Attendees can expect a comprehensive exploration of key trends within the sector, including competitive dynamics, recent developments in air traffic management, airline performance, future growth prospects, and topics such as privatization opportunities, mergers, sustainability initiatives, and environmental conservation.
