Bahrain to host World Table Tennis Championships 2026
Bangkok, The Gulf Observer: Bahrain was selected by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) to host the World Table Tennis Championships 2026, during the 2023 ITTF Annual General Meeting, on the sidelines of the ITTF Summit.
Bahrain’s honorary selection comes in line with the vision of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, as well as His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC).
Bahrain’s participating delegation at the summit included Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Bahrain Table Tennis Association (BTTA), and Ali Abduali Al Madeh, Vice President of BTTA, and Jaffar Hadi Al Mahfooz, Secretary of BTTA.
Shaikha Hayat bin Abdulaziz affirmed that BTTA, with the support of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad, would be able to host a successful tournament, in compliance with ITTF regulations.
Bahrain was selected based on its distinguished record of hosting world championships, as well as its modern sports facilities, which will provide players from all over the world with a unique competitive experience.
