Baku Hosts “Tax Service – 25: Sustainable Development and Effective Transformation” Forum

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Economy organized the “Tax Service – 25: Sustainable Development and Effective Transformation” Forum, which convened key government officials and industry experts to discuss the progress and future direction of Azerbaijan’s tax system.
The forum opened with the performance of Azerbaijan’s National Anthem, followed by Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov delivering President Ilham Aliyev’s message to the attendees. The event featured a documentary highlighting the 25-year history and milestones of Azerbaijan’s tax authorities.
In his speech, Mikayil Jabbarov underscored the critical role of tax policy in driving economic efficiency and fostering growth. He noted that well-designed tax policies can not only stimulate economic progress but also promote business development and increase transparency within the economy. Jabbarov highlighted sustainable development and the fortification of the private sector as essential priorities, emphasizing the need to enhance export-oriented sectors and services to ensure long-term economic stability.
Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights, Sabina Aliyeva, addressed taxpayers’ rights during the forum, stressing the importance of transparency and accountability in tax administration. She emphasized the role of tax policy in supporting economic stability and its contribution to building a legal and democratic society.
Shahin Baghirov, Chairman of the State Customs Committee, spoke about the strong partnership between the State Customs Committee and the State Tax Service. Other speakers at the forum emphasized how tax policy serves as a powerful tool for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
Orkhan Nazarli, Chief of the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy, provided a comprehensive overview of the reforms implemented within the tax system over the past 25 years and outlined recent advancements.
The forum continued with a series of sessions, including an interactive Q&A segment, where participants engaged in discussions on the future of the tax system. As part of the event, distinguished taxpayers were honored with certificates across various categories, acknowledging their contributions to Azerbaijan’s economic development.
